Packaging Guides
Preparing items for courier collection
Packaging should protect the item and make the handover simple. A courier can move many types of consignments, but the sender still needs to make sure the goods are ready to collect, safe to handle, and clearly identified.
Parcel and document preparation
Use a strong outer box or envelope, remove old labels, seal edges securely, and make sure the recipient name, address, and phone number are correct. If a document needs named handover, include that requirement in the booking notes.
Fragile and valuable items
Fragile items should be cushioned inside rigid packaging so they cannot move around during transit. Valuable or sensitive items should be described clearly when booking so the delivery route and handover can be planned properly.
Pallets and larger consignments
For palletised goods, provide accurate dimensions, weight, and loading details. Tell the team if a forklift, pallet truck, loading bay, or tail-lift vehicle is required.
